The Problem: Google Play's 20-Tester Hurdle
In late 2023, Google introduced a strict requirement for all new personal Google Play Console accounts: developers must run a closed test with at least 20 testers opted in for at least 14 consecutive days before applying for production access.
For solo developers and small startups, finding 20 reliable individuals willing to install an unreleased app and keep it for two weeks proved to be a massive roadblock. Many developers suffered rejections because testers opted out early or went inactive.
The Solution: Reciprocal Community Testing
I created Testers 20 as a collaborative ecosystem where developers help test each other's apps. By gamifying participation and giving developers automated tools to track daily tester retention, we turned a stressful compliance hurdle into a smooth, automated workflow.
